Résumé	Une passionnante réflexion sur les rapports entre musique et idéologie à partir de la personnalité d'un artiste et de son rôle dans l'Allemagne nazie. For some he ranks among the best conductors of all time, while others condemn him as being the ”showpiece conductor” of the Nazis. Even after Wilhelm Furtwängler was acquitted by the denazification committee, his case was not considered to be concluded in the eyes of the critical public, which still remains the case today. The dilemma of the ”apolitical” artist in a totalitarian system is reflected in the extraordinary personality of Furtwängler and the way in which he was instrumentalised by the Nazis. Even up to his death in 1954, Furtwängler was never able to understand what he was accused of.
