Résumé DAY AND NIGHT September 1st, bus, parting from Dad, large bag, small girl. A gate opens, new class, 250 girls, 6 girls in a room, one daily pray. Two public telephones, faraway Mom and Dad. "I don't miss them during the day, just at night". The film follows a new girl on her first day at the boarding school and accompanies an "ex-boarder" returning to the scene of her childhood for the first time in 35 years. Rare archival footage tells the story of the "Weingarten Orphanages for Girls", which was founded in Jerusalem in 1902 and operates today as a boarding school for orthodox girls. Rabbi Fishel Weingarten, whose grandfather established the orphanage at the beginning of the twenty century, runs the place for the last sixty years. A very devote religious person who is guided by honor, respect and commitment to the girls. This is a story of a girl's world, a closed world with its own rules, a world of childhood with no parents in it.
