Résumé | Une relation complexe entre deux palestiniennes à Londres. Un lourd secret va se révéler petit à petit par des bribes du passé. This psychological thriller begins in Ramalla of 1993 during the Palestinian uprising. There's a curfew. Inam and Lara, two Palestinian teenage girls, are bonded together by an adolescent attraction bordering on infatuation. Inam, sexy and daring, cajoles her friend Lara, shy and demure, into breaking the curfew, and heading out towards the Jewish part of Jerusalem to see a movie. What begins as a youthful prank soon turns into an unaticipated twist of events. Years later, present day London, Lara is now settled with an English husband and has an eight year old son. A knock on the door interrupts her daily life - Inam shows up unexpectedly. It seems they haven't seen each other for years. There's a sense of danger between the two women. We still don't know why. Leaping back and forth in time, from East Jerusalem to present day London, the story's resolution assumes different, often conflicting, shades of reality. It is a tale told through two different perceptions of the past, each equally believable. This is a story about memories. Memories are fickle. Sometimes we don't even remember who's the victim and who's the aggressor. |
