Résumé	Depuis son appartement de New York, Louise Zilkha, quatre-vingts ans, passe en revue les moments forts de sa vie qui a commencé par une éducation juive traditionnelle à Bagdad. Zilkha se souvient de sa jeunesse, de son rôle de reine Esther, de sa cour arrangée et de son mariage avec un grand banquier du Moyen-Orient. Elle parle de la coexistence souvent turbulente des juifs et des musulmans irakiens, des persécutions et des menaces qui ont conduit la famille à quitter l'Irak pour Beyrouth, Le Caire et, enfin, New York. From her apartment in New York, eighty-year-old Louise Zilkha reviews the highlights of her life that began with a traditional Jewish upbringing in Baghdad. Zilkha reminisces about her youth, of playing Queen Esther and of her arranged courtship and marriage to a leading Middle Eastern banker. She talks about the often turbulent coexistence of Iraqi Jews and Moslems, and of the persecution and threats that led the family on a journey out of Iraq to Beirut, Cairo, and finally, New York.
