Résumé	Hayuta et Berl, pionniers, militants fondateurs de la première heure de l’état d'Israël, ne reconnaissent plus grand-chose de leur idéal de jeunesse, dans la société israélienne des années 2000. Après des années de combats, leurs rêves communs, leur projet révolutionnaire de construire un état-providence, sont toujours intacts. Certes, le corps a vieillit, mais leur cœur et leur esprit, ont gardé la fraîcheur des utopies de leurs 20 ans. Confrontés à l’absurde d’une administration kafkaïenne et autoritaire, fatigués d’être relégués au rang de citoyens fantômes, ils décident de s’offrir un dernier grand baroude d’honneur. Libres. Thirteen people, from many and varied fields - politics, art, literature, society and philosophy - who share the distinction that their actions, words and creations have been seared into the public consciousness over the years. Thirteen people who talk profoundly about death. Thirteen monologues and the choice of the speaker is not surprising. On the contrary. They are the mainstay of the Israeli experience; they are almost the cliché of the Israeli narrative, of the meaning of life in this place, of the meaning of death. People facing the final chapter of their lives, they talk about old age, anxiety and the death that lurks and stalks them. It is the personal, it is the public, it is all of us.
