Résumé Hiria la montagne des déchets et aussi le moyen de survie pour certains. This film is about the things we have discarded or repressed - the things that had grown into an enormous pile of garbage. It’s about Hiria, a mountain of trash containing all the rubbish that people from the central area of Israel have disposed of over the past fifty years, like a snake shedding its skin. It’s about the people for whom Hiria is their life. It’s about proposals by famous artists from Israel and around the world, who were asked to give the mountain new form and meaning, now that it has ceased to serve as the main garbage dump for Metropolitan Tel Aviv. It’s about ecology and trash, and the winding ways that art tries to negotiate between the two. “When I was five, I saw a baby eating its own feces. The shocked nanny turned her face up in disgust. The baby was happy. I felt a bit of the baby's joy and a bit of the nanny’s nauseous revulsion, when I rolled around in that marvelously chaotic sea of muck that is Hiria. This is where our culture finally exhausts itself” (Ram Loevy).
