Résumé	Shanti, la mère de Jason, a quitté son père après vingt-deux ans de mariage. Quand elle est partie, Jason et sa sœur se sont sentis abandonnés et ont coupé tout contact avec leur mère. Aujourd'hui, trois ans après que la famille ait été déchirée, Jason lui rend visite pour la première fois dans une petite hutte sur une plage de la péninsule du Sinaï en Égypte. Shanti lui raconte l'histoire de sa vie avec Martin, son père. C'est ce qu'elle fait en lisant à haute voix dans son journal intime. L'image d'un mariage heureux, celui auquel il s'était obstinément accroché au fil des ans, s'effondra rapidement et fut remplacé par quelque chose de nouveau. Shanti est forte et elle lui a permis d'aller aussi loin qu'elle le voulait pour que son fils comprenne enfin qu'elle est une femme, bien avant d'être une mère. Shanti, Jason's mother, left his father after twenty-two years of marriage. When she left, Jason and his sister felt abandoned and cut off all contact with their mother. Now, three years after the family was torn apart, Jason visits her for the first time in a small hut on a beach in Egypt’s Sinai Peninsula. Shanti tells him the story of her life with Martin, His father. This she does by reading aloud from her diaries. The picture of a happy marriage, the one he had stubbornly clung to throughout the years, broke down quickly and was replaced by something new. Shanti is strong and she allowed him to delve as far as he wanted to go. So that her son, would finally understand that she’s a woman, long before she’s a mother.
