| Résumé | En 1991, le metteur en scène de Moscou Evgeny Arye et une poignée d'immigrants de l'Union Soviétique ont fondé un nouveau théâtre en Israël nommé GESHER, pont en hébreu - un pont entre les gens, entre les cultures. In 1991, Moscow director Evgeny Arye and a handful of immigrants from the Soviet Union founded a new theatre in Israel named GESHER, bridge in Hebrew—a bridge between people, between cultures. I happened to witness the birth of GESHER, filming the rehearsals of some of its most remarkable productions: Rosenkrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead, The Lower Depths, The Master and Margarita, and others (in Israel, Russia. USA, Poland, Latvia....). The film's protagonist, Evgeny Arye, has lived on the screen for ten years of his life, 1994-2004. Every art form has its own language. Perpetual Rehearsal is an amalgam of both theatre and documentary cinema. But this film is not just about theatre—it is about Man in art. The film’s tagline/epigraph is: "Is not all Art but a rehearsal for the transformation of a Man himself into Art... upon the stage of the Universe?" |
