Résumé	Une fille de la classe est venue à l'école avec son agent de libération conditionnelle, beaucoup appartenaient à des gangs et presque toutes avaient des amis morts de violences liées aux gangs. En 1994, une nouvelle enseignante, Erin Gruwell, entra dans cette classe en portant un collier de perles et un grand sourire qui dissimulait sa ténacité, sa ténacité et son dévouement envers les enfants. Quand elle a assigné la lecture du journal d'Anne Frank, ils ont résisté. Mais une fois qu'ils ont lu le livre, ils ont commencé à trouver leurs propres voix et ont finalement commencé à écrire leurs propres histoires. Au bout de 4 ans, 75 des étudiants qui avaient suivi le cours de Mme Gruwell se sont rendus ensemble pour aller voir la maison d’Anne, le camp de concentration où elle est décédée et bien plus encore. Raconté par les étudiants eux-mêmes, ce documentaire d'Anker va bien au-delà du long métrage de 2007, Freedom Writers, révélant la vie réelle des étudiants d'alors et d'aujourd'hui. ainsi que l'impact de connaître et de raconter votre propre histoire. One girl in the class came to school with her parole officer, many belonged to gangs and nearly all had friends who died in gang violence. Into this classroom in 1994 walked a new teacher, Erin Gruwell, wearing a pearl necklace and big smile that belied her tenacity, toughness and devotion to the kids. When she assigned reading The Diary of Anne Frank, they resisted. But once they did read the book, they began finding their own voices and eventually began writing their own stories. After 4 years, 75 of the students who had taken Ms. Gruwell’s class journeyed together to see Anne’s house, the concentration camp where she died and much more. Told by the students themselves, this documentary by Anker (Imaginary Witness: Hollywood and the Holocaust WJFF 2004, Scottsboro: An American Tragedy WJFF 2000) goes far beyond the 2007 feature film Freedom Writers, revealing the very real lives of the students then and now as well as the impact of knowing and telling your own story.
