| Résumé | Il s'agit de la façon dont la mort d'un homme se traduit par la célébration de sa vie. Selon la croyance juive, dès la naissance d'un juif, il est accompagné de deux anges : un ange de lumière et un ange des ténèbres. Avec le décès de Moishe (75 ans), sa famille et ses amis se réunissent à Mexico pour s'asseoir shivah, le rituel de deuil juif de 7 jours. Les anges spirituels, Aleph et Bet, comptables divins, uniquement visibles à la caméra, veillent sur la famille et calculent quel ange accompagnera l'âme de Moishe dans l'au-delà. Les chances sont contre Moishe depuis le début. Dysfonctionnement familial mis à part, les amis de Moishe sont tous présents pour leurs propres motifs. Et pour empirer les choses, dans l'exercice de ses fonctions, un Chevreman, membre de la Sacred Funeral Society, exploite la famille pour tout ce qu'elle vaut : nourriture casher, pantoufles et autres shivahs divers.... It's about how the death of a man results in the celebration of his life. According to Jewish belief, from the moment a Jew is born, he or she is accompanied by two angels: an angel of light and an angel of darkness. With the passing Moishe (75), his family and friends gather in Mexico City to sit shivah, the 7-day Jewish mourning ritual. The spirit angels, Aleph and Bet, divine accountants, only visible to the camera, watch over the family and calculate which angel will accompany Moishe's soul to the afterlife. The odds are against Moishe from the beginning. Family dysfunction aside, Moishe's friends are all attending for their own motives. And to make matters worse, while performing his duties, a Chevreman, who is a member of the Sacred Funeral Society, is milking the family for all they're worth: charging for kosher food, slippers and various other shivah goods... |
