Résumé	Benjy Stone est l'auteur junior de l'émission de variétés/comédie la mieux cotée, au milieu des années 50 (les premières années). Il s'agit d'un nouveau média et les règles n'ont pas été pleinement établies. Alan Swann, un acteur du genre Erol Flynn et alcoolique est l'invité de la semaine. Quand le roi Kaiser, le grand vedette veut faire sortir Swann de l'émission, Benjy fait un pitch pour sauver son héros d'enfance, et devient la baby-sitter de Swann. Benjy Stone is the junior writer on the top rated variety/comedy show, in the mid 50s (the early years). Its a new medium and the rules were not fully established. Alan Swann, an Erol Flynn type actor with a drinking problem is to be that weeks guest star. When King Kaiser, the headliner wants to throw Swann off the show, Benjy makes a pitch to save his childhood hero, and is made Swann's babysitter. On top of this, a union boss doesn't care for Kaiser's parody of him and has plans to stop the show. It’s a hilarious sequence full of Jewish wit and humor, a culinary and cultural encounter that even manages to inject a few serious notes, one involving Swann’s young daughter, who he hasn’t seen in years; a back-story director Benjamin handles quite nicely without resorting to schmaltz.
