| Résumé | La Troisième Langue examine le conflit israélo-palestinien à travers un large éventail de récits. Il est centré autour d'un metteur en scène juif suisse nommé Dalit Bloch qui, après 40 ans, retourne dans son pays d'origine: Israël. Il croise un groupe mixte d'adolescents juifs et arabes. La Troisième Langue illustre habilement le fossé fondamentale entre les Juifs et les Palestiniens Il va aussi dans les coulisses de la production de Dalit Bloch au théâtre arabe-hébreu dans la vieille ville de Jaffa. Ils répètent une pièce dramatique de Keller dans un espace neutre. La Troisieème Langue examines the Israeli-Palestinian conflict through a wide range of narratives. It centers around a Swiss Jewish theater director named Dalit Bloch who, after 40 years, returns to her home country of Israel to put on Gottfried Keller's A Village Romeo and Juliet with a mixed group of Jewish and Arabic teenagers. As the Swiss novella touches on some common issues arising from today's deeply divided territory, it also paves the way for the documentary's larger preoccupation with peace, reconciliation and tolerance. La Troisie?me Langue ably illustrates the fundamental rift between Jews and Palestinians while never catering to extremist voices, and is at its best when following the development of Dalit Bloch's production at the Arab-Hebrew Theater in the Old City of Jaffa. It is during those weeks of rehearsing Keller's drama in an impartial space when the teenagers reject the prevailing hate and detachment in favor of mutual empathy and inclusion. |
