Résumé	Un drame tout aussi impressionnant et captivant qui se déroule dans un passé récent. Inspiré de faits réels " la Last Great Air Race de Londres à Christchurch en 1953, qui fut remportée par un avion KLM transportant 26 jeunes mariées néerlandaises en route pour rejoindre leurs fiancés déjà installés en Nouvelle-Zélande " raconte-t-il l'histoire de trois jeunes femmes, Marjorie, Ada et Jewish Esther, qui pendant le vol tissent instantanément un lien d'amitié. A leur arrivée, les trois parties commencent une nouvelle vie, mais leurs chemins continuent de se croiser. La paysanne timide mais sensuelle, Ada, se dirige vers la côte ouest pour rejoindre son mari, un fervent chrétien qu'elle connaît à peine. Sensible si posée, Marjorie cherche désespérément à fonder une famille dès qu'elle sera mariée, et la très bruyante et extravertie Esther, qui a perdu toute sa famille dans l'Holocauste, est déterminée à éviter de s'installer. Mais ce n'est que lorsqu'ils se réunissent 50 ans plus tard, lors des funérailles d'un autre passager, Frank (Rutger Hauer), que nous réalisons à quel point leurs vies ont été entrelacées. C'est une histoire édifiante de la migration des antipodes d'après-guerre. Aidé par les interprétations chaleureuses et généreuses d'un casting splendide, le film ne perd jamais de vue le drame très humain qui le caractérise. Following the international success of his Oscar-nominated Twin Sisters, Dutch director Ben Sombogaart returns with an equally impressive and compelling drama set in the recent past. Inspired by real events " the Last Great Air Race from London to Christchurch in 1953, which was won by a KLM aircraft carrying 26 young Dutch brides-to-be on their way to join their fiancés already settled in New Zealand " it tells the story of three young women, Marjorie, Ada and Jewish Esther, who during the flight instantly forge a bond of friendship. On their arrival, the three part ways to a start a new life, yet their paths continue to cross. The shy yet sensual country girl, Ada, is headed to the West Coast to join her husband, a devout Christian she hardly knows. Sensible if staid Marjorie, is desperate to start a family as soon as she's married, and the highly vocal, outgoing Esther, who lost her entire family in the Holocaust, is determined to avoid settling down. But it is not until they reunite 50 years later, at the funeral of another fellow passenger, Frank (Rutger Hauer), that we realise just how intertwined their lives have been. This is an elevating story of post-war antipodean migration. Aided by the warm, generous performances of a splendid cast, the film never looses sight of the very human drama at its core
