Résumé	Yariv Nornberg, un jeune étudiant, a entendu, dans un magasin en déclin, un vieux vendeur raconter l'histoire fantastique d'un trésor juif enterré sur le sol polonais. Sa curiosité est éveillée lorsqu'il découvre l'emplacement de la cachette, à côté du tristement célèbre camp d'extermination d'Auschwitz. Au cours des cinq années suivantes, Yariv poursuit ces artefacts religieux perdus, cachés dans l'enceinte de la Grande Synagogue de la ville d'Oswiecim (Auschwitz) en 1939. Pour lui, ces artefacts incarnent sa propre famille disparue et orientent sa tentative de fermeture. l'acceptation du peuple polonais, généralement considéré par les Juifs comme des collaborateurs et des antisémites. Yariv réussit à organiser une fouille archéologique unique pour déterrer le trésor. Mais à mesure que les fouilles progressent, il devient évident que le sol de la synagogue recèle un sinistre secret âgé de 60 ans et que Yariv et son équipe commencent à perdre espoir. Jusqu'au matin où une pelle frappe un objet métallique dans l'un des fossés. La recherche et l’excavation du trésor se traduisent dans le film par une succession de métaphores poignantes - de l’existence juive en Pologne et de son anéantissement, de la possibilité d’un dialogue entre les jeunes générations, de la capacité du mal nazi incarné par la présence de le camp de la mort à proximité et surtout - avec le sentiment croissant que seulement 60 ans se sont écoulés et que déjà la Seconde Guerre mondiale et son plus grand cauchemar - l'Holocauste - se transforme tragiquement en une exposition archéologique. A young student, Yariv Nornberg, hears from an elderly vendor in a rundown shop a fantastic story about a Jewish treasure buried in Polish soil. His curiosity is aroused when he learns of the location of the hiding place - next to the infamous Auschwitz extermination camp. During the next 5 years, Yariv pursues these lost religious artifacts, hidden in the grounds of the Great Synagogue in the city of Oswiecim (Auschwitz) in 1939. For him, these artifacts embody his own perished family and guide his attempt for a closure and acceptance of the Polish people, usually regarded by Jews as collaborators and anti-Semites. Yariv manages to organize a unique archaeological excavation to unearth the treasure. But as the digging progresses, it becomes apparent that the synagogue's soil conceals a 60-year-old sinister secret and Yariv and his crew begin to lose hope. Until one morning a shovel hits a metallic object in one of the ditches. The search and excavation for the treasure translates within the film to a succession of poignant metaphors - to the Jewish existence in Poland and its annihilation, to the possibility of a dialog between the younger generations, to the capacity of Nazi evilness embodied in the presence of the nearby death camp and above all - to the growing sentiment that only 60 years have gone by and already WW2 and it's greatest nightmare - the Holocaust - is tragically transforming into an archaeological exhibit.
