Résumé	Dans ce film intime et poignant sur la famille, la culture et l'identité, le cinéaste Gili Gaon suit le musicien rock populaire israélien contemporain Dudu Tassa dans un voyage profondément personnel pour renouer avec l'héritage musical de son grand-père, Daud al-Kuwait. Daud et son frère Saleh - les frères al-Kuwaity -, musiciens juifs qui ont vécu en Irak dans les années 1930, étaient les musiciens et compositeurs les plus célèbres de leur temps, se produisant souvent à la cour du roi, et sont toujours considérés comme les créateurs de la musique moderne irakienne. Cependant, lorsqu'ils ont immigré en Israël dans les années 1950, leur musique du Moyen-Orient n'a pas été adoptée par l'establishment culturel occidental de l'État naissant, et ils sont devenus marginalisés et presque oubliés. Dans sa quête émouvante de redécouvrir son héritage culturel à travers la musique de son grand-père, Dudu décide de consacrer son prochain album à des réinterprétations nouvelles et plus contemporaines de l'œuvre d'al-Koweït, créant un dialogue entre les générations et contribuant à restaurer cet héritage musical et culturel disparu à la place qui lui revient dans la riche et diverse mosaïque qui a tissé la culture et l'identité moderne israélienne. SPECIAL AWARDS: Warsaw Phoenix 2012 In this intimate and poignant film about family, culture and identity, filmmaker Gili Gaon follows popular contemporary Israeli rock musician Dudu Tassa as he embarks on a deeply personal journey to reconnect with the musical legacy of his grandfather, Daud al-Kuwaity. Daud and his brother Saleh – the al-Kuwaity Brothers –, Jewish musicians who lived in Iraq in the 1930’s, were the most celebrated musicians and composers of their time, often performing in the court of the King, and are still considered to be the creators of modern Iraqi music. When they immigrated to Israel in the 1950’s, however, their middle-eastern music was not embraced by the Western-oriented cultural establishment of the nascent state, and they became marginalized and almost forgotten. On his moving quest to rediscover his cultural heritage through his grandfather’s music, Dudu decides to devote his next album to new and more contemporary reinterpretations of the al-Kuwaity’s works, creating a dialogue between the generations, and helping to restore this suppressed musical and cultural legacy to its rightful place within the rich and diverse tapestry from which modern Israeli culture and identity have been woven.
