Alena est coincée à Prague pour ses vacances d'été avec sa sœur, Kristina, professeur d'histoire dont la spécialité est l'époque médiévale ce qui exaspère Alena. En parcourant une librairie d'occasion, les sœurs tombent sur un livre longtemps considéré comme une invention mythique et soudain la Prague du 16ème siècle du légendaire Rabbin Loew, le Maharal, ne semble plus si ennuyeuse aux yeux d'Alena. Lorsque le livre disparaît et que le propriétaire de la librairie est retrouvé mort, les sœurs se rendent compte qu'elles ne sont pas les seules à essayer de résoudre les énigmatiques instructions du livre au trésor caché d'un ancien roi. Alena is stuck in Prague for her summer vacation with her sister, Kristina, a history professor whose specialty in medieval times bores Alena to no end. Browsing a local used bookstore, the sisters stumble upon book long thought to be a mythic invention and suddenly the 16th century Prague of legendary Rabbi Loew, the Maharal, suddenly doesn’t seem so dull. When the book disappears and the bookstore owner is found dead, the sisters realize they are not the only ones trying to solve the book’s cryptic instructions to the hidden treasure of an ancient king. Join Alena, Kristina and their misfit crew of would-be treasure hunters as they race to be the first to discover the secret of the Maharal’s book in this updated version of the classic Golem stories of Jewish folklore.
