Résumé	Tom a grandi en Israël, fille d'un père survivant de l'Holocauste et d'une mère allemande qui s'était portée volontaire au kibboutz Yotvata comme pénitence pour les péchés de son père. Sa mère a élevé trois filles en Israël, mais a insisté pour préserver son identité ; à la maison, la langue était l'allemand et on célébrait Noël. Comme tous les enfants israéliens, Tom a absorbé les traditions judéo-israéliennes à travers le système éducatif. Son enfance a été marquée par des histoires d'héroïsme, des cérémonies commémoratives et des fêtes, mais la magie a été assombrie par un sentiment de non appartenance. Tom s'est finalement installée en Allemagne, mais après avoir élevé ses propres enfants à Munich pendant 17 ans, elle s'interroge à nouveau sur ses racines, son foyer et son identité. Dans ce film fascinant, la cinéaste emmène ses enfants allemands vivre en Israël pendant un an. Shira, 6 ans, et Daniel, 15 ans, vont à l'école et absorbent la langue et la culture. Ils découvrent leur deuxième identité tandis que Tom part en voyage pour découvrir la première et essayer de léguer à ses enfants une identité unique et claire. A la fin de l'année, Daniel et Shira connaissent bien les vacances, la langue et les coutumes d'Israël, mais leur mère a-t-elle atteint son objectif ? Tom grew up in Israel, the daughter of a Holocaust survivor father and a German mother who had volunteered on Kibbutz Yotvata as penance for the sins of her fathers. Her mother raised three daughters in Israel, but insisted on preserving her identity; at home the language was German and they celebrated Christmas. Like every Israeli child, Tom absorbed Jewish-Israeli traditions through the education system. Her childhood was colored with stories of heroism, memorial ceremonies, and holidays, but the magic was clouded by a sense of not belonging. Tom herself eventually moved to Germany, but after 17 years of raising her own children in Munich, she once again begins to wonder about her roots, her home, and her identity. In this fascinating film, the filmmaker brings her German children to live in Israel for a year. Six-year-old Shira and 15-year-old Daniel go to school and absorb the language and culture. They discover their second identity while Tom goes on a journey to discover her first and to try to bequeath to her children a single, clear identity. At the year's end, Daniel and Shira are familiar with Israel's holidays, language, and customs, but has their mother achieved her goal?
